ACES SHINE AT BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE TOURNAMENT IN VIRGINIA

The Mid-Penn Aces had a successful weekend, going 2 -1, and outscoring their opponents 30 -14. The Aces bats were paced by Ryan Murray, who went 6-10 over the weekend, including hitting for the cycle against the PA Select team. Ryan had 2 HRs included in his six hits and had 7 RBIs to lead the squad.

From a fielding perspective, there were several highlights as well. Eric Chamberlin had a 'web gem' against the PA Select squad, making an over-the-shoulder catch to end the 2nd inning and stop a mini-rally in progress. Nate Kranz and Kyle Witman also had strong defensive games against the Mid Maryland Red Sox. Nate initiated 2 double plays, one while playing at 2nd and then another after moving to his SS position. Kyle made 3 strong plays from 3rd base, nailing a runner at home, assisting in 1-3-5-6 pickoff and fielding a hot grounder, getting the out at 1st and keeping the runner at 2nd base from advancing.

Pitching wise, the Aces had a pretty strong weekend with a 3.67 team ERA and 19 strikeouts for the staff over the 3 games. Irvin Sleighter and Shane Wilkinson each pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowed only 1 hit each, and did not walk a batter.
